Man of steel. Superman of Nolan

The world needs a hero. The news are worst everyday, humans can't stop fighting between each others, and the movies can see that. And a director more than the rest: Christopher Nolan. After his Batman that talk to the world about nuclear weapons and nihilistic terrorism, the author has decide to co-write and produce the story of another superhero well known for the audience: Superman.

Maybe because be the director of two reboots is a mess, or the huge responsibility of be a father of two superheroes is too much for a human being, the case is he tries to stay in the back. But he can't. His signature is in every single frame, line and deep thoughts of this Men of Steel even if the credits say is directed by Zack Snyder (the man behind another epic movie 300). The deep of this new Superman is there because Nolan has decided as he decided than for the action shots Snyder was the perfect director.

Why I say that? Obviously, because as we saw in the rest of Nolan's films, he try to explain something more, he is focus on give a background to the superheroes, a consciousness about what's the meaning of be the man who has to save and rescue the humanity from itself. In this case, Man of steel keeps telling us how the whole world it so focus on his own existence that doesn't take care of the rest, and it has to be a kind of alien who has to do it. Even when another alien is who try to kill us. But this General Zod (scaring Michael Shanon) is not so different from us, as it isn't Clark Kent. Zod could be one of these country leaders who killed people, sabotage the power or do whatever they need in the name of the people. How bad could be that? What consequences may have? We saw it in Superman, Batman and in the news and networks (the way used by Zod to speak with the earth population, he must know that we are always in front of a screen, even when they are alien). And what happen with the superhero? He is live with us, but we didn't know it, sometimes we put our eye of him but at the end, we forget his acts and his face even if he covered it with just glasses.

But we are in front of a blockbuster and all of these doesn't take a piece of entertainment to Man of steel. From the beginning the audience get in the story. The recreation of Krypton, this foreign planet, its so huge than your eyes can't believe that it's unreal, and with the help of the prologue told you are involved of this travel around the universe, with space ships, see how men can flight and hold buses and buildings, and this is a labour that Zack Snyder can do it perfectly as we can see. The fights, the sense of the show and firebombs, explosions, violence are even better done than in 300 using the 3D as it's required, maybe the audience could feel dizzy but it's so shocking, so well done... that we can understand why Nolan trust completely in a director like Snyder, because he's one of the best on this area.

Not all the movie is perfect, of course, there's some hilarious parts don't do it in purpose that we saw Superman so high, so epic, so perfect that the audience can't do anything else than laugh or, just in these moments, feel that this over treatment of the hero is too epic. But this is a problem of a movie with two directors and with a main character wearing a cape.

Anyway, Man of steel gives all what the trailer promises and almost perfectly, offers a new Superman more human than alien, more Batman than Leonidas, more Nolan's than Snyder's.
